Current status of LNG refueling station construction

On August 3, 2020, the Lhasa Development Zone gas station in Tibet successfully completed its LNG refueling upgrade project, becoming the first gas station in the Tibet Autonomous Region with LNG refueling capabilities, filling the gap in Lhasa's LNG vehicle supply.

On December 20, 2021, the first shore-based LNG refueling station on the Yangtze River in China, located in the Wuhu section, commenced operation and completed its first vessel refueling.

On October 18, 2024, the Weilong Service Area LNG refueling station on the Chongqing-Chengdu Expressway was put into operation, capable of meeting the refueling needs of approximately 400 heavy trucks daily. LNG refueling stations have also been installed in some service areas along the Chongqing Ring Expressway, the Chengdu-Chongqing Ring Expressway, and the Chongqing-Xiangtan Expressway.

In November 2024, the Sinopec Yongzhou Petroleum Lanyong LNG refueling station opened for operation.

On September 21, 2025, Hunan Province was accelerating the construction of a clean energy supply network for its expressways. The Hunan Provincial Department of Transportation and the Hunan Provincial Energy Bureau jointly issued the "Layout and Construction Plan for LNG and Hydrogen Refueling Stations on Hunan Provincial Expressways," which clearly states that LNG and hydrogen refueling stations will be gradually deployed on expressways throughout the province to better meet the long-distance travel needs of liquefied natural gas vehicles and hydrogen-powered vehicles. It is expected that nearly 100 new LNG and hydrogen refueling stations will be built by the end of 2027.
