Cryogenic Centrifugal LNG Submerged Pump for LNG Stations
Working Principle of LNG Cryogenic Submerged Pump
Integrated Cryogenic Construction
LNG submerged pumps are purpose‑built for reliable liquefied natural gas transfer under ultra‑low‑temperature conditions. Combining a centrifugal pump assembly with a hermetically sealed motor, the entire unit runs fully submerged inside storage tanks or vacuum sumps.
Self‑Cooling and Self‑Lubricating Operation
During operation, the circulating LNG itself cools the motor and lubricates internal bearings. This eliminates the need for separate external cooling or auxiliary lubrication systems. The submerged layout also effectively avoids cavitation and gas‑lock risks caused by LNG vaporization in above‑ground piping.
Stable Pressure and Flow Output
Once activated, the motor‑driven impeller produces steady centrifugal force to build consistent pressure. Pressurized LNG is then delivered reliably to refueling dispensers, tank trucks or distribution pipelines, maintaining stable performance even under high‑flow transfer conditions.
Intelligent Control & Leak‑Free Safety
Compatible with variable frequency drives (VFD), the pump automatically adjusts speed to match real‑time operational demand. Its fully sealed design prevents any external leakage, enabling long‑term safe and stable operation for LNG refueling stations and gas peak‑shaving facilities.
Products Description
For LNG applications, specialised submerged motor-driven cryogenic pumps are used. Some of the benefits of submerged operation include that, as a cryogenic fluid, LNG is an excellent electrical insulator, and the motor is completely isolated from oxygen in the atmosphere, eliminating the risk of fire or explosion.
This design also removes the need for rotating seals, which can be problematic and introduce a potential point of failure. Submerged LNG pumps are constructed as a single unit, with the pump mounted on the same shaft as the motor, to be submerged in the LNG.
