Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Dispenser Overview
A Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) dispenser is a fueling device designed to supply compressed natural gas to Natural Gas Vehicles (NGVs) and high-pressure CNG transport trailers (CNG daughter station vehicles).
Typically, natural gas from the pipeline first undergoes pre-treatment and purification to remove sulfur and moisture. It is then compressed by a CNG compressor unit from a pressure of approximately 0.1–1.0 MPa up to 25 MPa. After compression, the gas is delivered to vehicles through the CNG dispenser for safe, accurate, and efficient refueling.
Advantages of CNG Fuel
1. Lower Fuel Costs and Reduced Transportation Expenses
CNG is highly economical. One cubic meter of natural gas is equivalent to approximately 1.1–1.3 liters of gasoline, significantly reducing fuel costs for fleet operators and commercial vehicles.
2. Superior Safety Performance
CNG has a high auto-ignition temperature of 732°C, compared to gasoline at 232–482°C, making it less likely to ignite accidentally.
Additionally, natural gas is lighter than air, with a relative density of 0.6–0.7, allowing it to disperse quickly in case of leakage, reducing the risk of accumulation and explosion in open environments.
CNG is also non-carcinogenic and non-corrosive, ensuring safer handling and storage.
3. Excellent Anti-Knock Performance
CNG has an octane rating equivalent to approximately 130, significantly higher than conventional gasoline (typically around 96 octane). This high anti-knock property eliminates the need for fuel additives and improves engine efficiency.

In addition, CNG contains no lead, benzene, or other carcinogenic toxic substances, making it a clean and environmentally friendly alternative fuel.

Vehicles powered by CNG operate more smoothly and quietly. Since CNG contains no heavy hydrocarbons, it significantly reduces carbon deposits inside the engine.
